Why
do I need your services if I have a will?
A
will must first be located. Part of our service is offering secure will
storage for the original or copy. A will appoints an executor, requests
all debts be paid from assets, and gives instructions for the remaining
estate. Rarely are specific details mentioned. Details such as income
sources, listing of monthly expenses, insurance policies, investments,
RRSP’s and RRIF’s, debts, property, companies and contact
information, professional advisors, location of documents. We communicate
the complete estate details, answer questions, explain terminology and
procedure, and discuss options available to your executor.

What
if I keep very good records?
Records
often suffer over time due to illness or physical impairments. It is
also very likely we will cover things you didn’t consider. The
most important part of the service is meeting with the executor. After
the passing of our client we communicate all the estate and financial
dealings, provide a complete picture, and ensure understanding.

Does the Ontario Will Register Ltd. prepare wills?
We
work in conjunction with selected lawyers. A will is required in order
for us to assist the appointed executor. If you are planning a will
or writing a new will, completing a Financial Profile is a great place
to start. We can offer financial advice, record your thoughts, and note
legal questions. With your authorization the complete package can be
supplied to a lawyer prior to your first meeting. This prepares the
lawyer to discuss your specific needs.

As an executor, how do I know if the person registered
with the Ontario Will Register Ltd.?
The
executor(s) are advised in writing within 10 days of registration. The
service is explained and contact information supplied. It is suggested
that our customer also advise their executor to watch for the notification.

Do you have an office?
An
office is available by appointment only. It is recommended that our
Profiling Specialist come to you, at least initially.

Can service be provided outside of the service
area indicated?
The
service area indicates where we currently offer mobile service at our
base rate. The base rate does not factor mileage or travel time. We
are pleased to offer quotes for anywhere in South Eastern Ontario.

What are your hours?
We
can be reached by phone between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Please allow a few rings as the office phone is often on call forward.
This allows for most calls to be answered without voicemail. You will
only be directed to voicemail when absolutely necessary. All messages
with be returned promptly. Evening and weekend appointments can be arranged
when necessary.

government?
There
is no affiliation with any government or public service. We offer a
private professional service.

Couldn’t a lawyer assist my executor?
A
lawyer would assist, but it would be up to your executor to provide
all of the details of your estate. Alternatively the lawyer’s office
can hire an investigator at the expense of the estate. Only the Ontario
Will Register Ltd. is designed to ease the burden with specific detailed
information, and reduce the fear with direct knowledge and understanding.

Shouldn’t an intelligent executor be able
to figure it out on their own?
Our
service provides facts, specific details, and estate processing knowledge.
It can save hundreds of hours of investigation and research for the
smartest person. It provides certainty and clarity. There is no wondering
what has been missed.

Are you going to ask for my investment business
or try to sell me insurance?
We
do not sell investments or insurance. If you have a need and you would
like recommendations of financial service providers, we would be pleased
to provide names of qualified professionals.

The
opportunity to speak to groups and organizations is greatly appreciated.
We want to communicate the availability of our service and educate the
general public on how to better provide for their executor and create
